"Cure" and "antitussive or suppressive treatment" are not the same thing. Our medical doctor provided a peer-reviewed and published "cure"! Your medical doctor only provided a temporary "treatment" or "therapy" and never a "cure", unless they utilize The Weinberger Procedure in person or by proxy. Habit Cough Diagnosis
by Dr. Miles Weinberger, M.D.
"The repetitive [daytime] barking cough that is not present once the patient is asleep is the diagnostic criteria." (It might take a while for the patient to fall asleep. It matters whether the cough is not present once asleep; only to return once awake. - Editor note.)
"The characteristics of the self-perpetuating [daytime] Habit Cough is its repetitiveness and absence once asleep."
Once the patient meets the diagnostic criteria for [daytime] Habit Cough, even while the repetitive cough is still considered acute (less than 4 weeks), treatment with suggestion therapy [Weinberger Procedure HERE] is appropriate.
There is no need to wait until the [daytime] cough is considered to be chronic (4 weeks/ child & 8 weeks/adult)
Multiple patients report that knowledge of The Weinberger Procedure allows them to stop their future [daytime] coughs during the acute period once diagnosis of Habit Cough has been met.
Updated to include "acute" cough by Dr. Weinberger on March 19, 2020. Note: Dr. Weinberger is a big proponent of patient interaction with their doctors - as are we. Many adults and parents report that they have quite successfully utilized The Weinberger Procedure on themselves or their children with numerous instant cures. They report their cures to their amazed doctors. Dr. Weinberger cannot make any recommendations on your medical care. Please consult with your doctor. If you attempt to utilize The Weinberger Procedure on yourself or your child, you are doing this under your own volition.
Don't let the simple and harmless-sounding name, "Habitual Cough" from 1694 fool you.
Habit Cough is vicious and relentless, daytime only acute or chronic cough, leaving families confused, hopeless, helpless, traumatized, and forsaken. (Until now, as hundreds of children and adults around the world shout in their own language, "... thanks Dr. Weinberger!")
From 1694, what it states is "[daytime] habitual cough, which often continues after the first Cough, which was caused by the Cold, is gone," - This is also very similar to Dr. Weinberger's modern diagnosis of daytime Habit Cough. The only thing missing was his "... absence of cough when the child [or adult] was sleeping." Dr. Weinberger nailed this part for a perfect diagnosis criteria.
The acute or chronic, repetitive, barking, daytime cough, known as "Habit Cough" is quite vicious and insidious. It is an acute or chronic, barking, horror cough that has no reason to start and no way to stop, until its permanent cure now.
Daytime Habit Cough should not be mistaken for Pertussis (Whooping Cough). Consult your trusted doctor for diagnosis and before entering any treatment plan.
Some children and adults cough from a few hundred to 27,000 times per day. Some children can suffer from chronic daytime Habit Cough for more than 5 years. Adults can suffer from chronic daytime Habit Cough for 20+ years. Remember that the term "chronic" cough is considered to be a repetitive cough at 4 weeks/child & 8 weeks/adult. The repetitive cough is still considered "acute" at less than 4 weeks in children and less than 8 weeks in adults. Note: 1 cough per minute @ 14 hours = 840 in a single day.
The acute, or chronic repetitive daytime coughs can be loud or soft. Some daytime coughs can sound like loud, and relentless machine gunfire coming from the mouth of a child or senior citizen for 14 hours per day with no end in sight. Even though they might have no underlying illness (and many don't), they are creating a plume of cough aerosol spray with each and every daytime cough. Cough aerosol spray plumes can easily and efficiently transmit viruses and disease with each cough.
Cure the repetitive daytime cough and mitigate and contain cough aerosol transmission of the virus (influenza) and disease
Some respondents are/were smokers, firefighters, volcano plume survivors, or 3-year-old children from large cities or farms in countries around the world.
Most respondents report a "bad" time of the day, mostly in the evening.
Most respondents stated that they were misdiagnosed on a continual basis as their lingering, daytime, cough went from acute to chronic and onward. Note: For other types of acute and chronic cough, there are brilliant and spot-on diagnoses with terrific cough research.
Then, when all hope that their daytime, mystery, horror cough would never end, it is properly diagnosed as Habit Cough and cured within mere minutes with The Weinberger Procedure.
The diagnosis for children and adults with acute or chronic, refractory, daytime, cough as Habit Cough is below. Once diagnosed, the peer-reviewed and published cure is simple and almost 100% effective. Consult with your doctor.
The Weinberger Procedure, by proxy, is the first EVER permanent cure for "the common cough", both acute and chronic, in medical history, when diagnosed as Habit Cough.
There have been many antitussive treatments, to suppress acute and chronic cough, but only NOW, is there a replicable drug-free cure for a daytime, repetitive acute or chronic, refractive, idiopathic cough - by proxy.

Here are some common questions and discussion:
My child (or I, as an adult) has a repetitive, daytime, acute or chronic cough. My child just got over a cold, URI, etc.,. It just won't stop with any medicine or procedure. It lingers during the day and goes on for weeks, months, or years. It is "... a daytime cough that continued after the first Cough, which was caused by the Cold [virus], is gone ...". HERE
My child took a while, acute or chronic daytime coughing, to get to sleep, but slept soundly, not coughing in their sleep. (Dennis note: In Bethany's case we were given permission from our doctor to provide her with some Benadryl if it was a rough night. Ask and trust your doctor.)
My child (or I, as an adult) has been told to take a lot of medicine and submit to many procedures with no success or even a diminishment of the acute or chronic daytime, cough. (Dennis note: This is what Dr. Weinberger says in his latest peer-reviewed and published paper HERE,
"The bottom line is that allergists and immunologists or pulmonologists who encounter these patients should recognize the disorder based on the unique clinical characteristics and avoid excessive and unnecessary testing and therapeutic trials. The diagnosis should not be one of default after excluding all other causes of CC. That approach only adds to further quality-of-life impairment. The clinical characteristics of [daytime] habit cough are sufficiently recognizable that a diagnosis is generally possible based on a history and physical examination" - Dr. Miles Weinberger, M.D.
After a night's sleep, uninterrupted and unawakened by coughing, my child (or I as an adult) awaken and begin their "daytime", repetitive coughing. (Dennis note: If your child DOES awaken coughing, tell your doctor. Ask them about Habit Cough. In Bethany's case, the doctor noted that it might be Cough Variant Asthma (CVA) and that tests could easily be done to rule this CVA out. This was around the time we spoke with Dr. Weinberger. He said since Bethany did NOT awaken with a yucky repetitive cough, and only coughed during the daytime, it was Habit Cough.)
Sometimes the daytime, repetitive cough is mild. Sometimes it gets really bad, like in the evening. Some children and adults have 50 coughs per hour for years or decades. Some have 27,000 coughs per day. There is a tickle in the throat that just won't clear. (no phlegm) (Dennis note: Bethany talked about the tickle that preceded the repetitive, daytime, cough. More on that HERE in the Recovery note page.) This yuck time seems to be a good time to utilize The Weinberger Procedure after proper diagnosis, as noted HERE.
Does my child have daytime Habit Cough? Do I, as an adult have daytime Habit Cough? (Dennis note: Have your doctor confirm the diagnosis. The diagnosis of whether you or your child has Habit Cough is stated above. Your diagnosed cough does not need to be deemed "chronic" as noted below. The Weinberger Procedure works once the diagnostic criteria have been met.)
Dennis note for adults: Some adults ask is they have Habit Cough after they cannot get their repetitive, daytime, cough to stop even after a 10, 15, or 20+ year cough. Do you have the diagnosis as stated below? Ask your doctor for his diagnosis/opinion. Habit Cough is NOT just a kid's disease as noted HERE.

Diagnose - Cure - Recovery
Peer-reviewed and published in major medical journals.
All diagnoses must be performed by your qualified medical personnel.
Any video documenting your child or your (adult) with repetitive daytime, coughing and/or being cured will help Dr. Weinberger immensely in his research and development of treatment for Habit Cough.
HERE is a great example of Abby from Australia being filmed as she is cured "by proxy" in only 5 minutes after 5 entire years of mystery repetitive daytime coughing which was diagnosed by Dr. Weinberger as Habit Cough. This and your video will live on to help so many forsaken children around the world.
Provide him with a detailed overview and he will reply shortly.
He normally replies within 12 - 24 hours based on your location in the world.
One of the questions that Dr. Weinberger must receive all the time is - Which is it? "Disabling cough: habit disorder or tic syndrome?" Never once did we refer to our child's vicious and unstoppable repetitive horror cough as a "tic". Never. Our daughter "repetitively coughed non-stop". She never had a "tic'd non-stop".
First noted HERE (extract) or HERE (full) correctly in The Spirit of Diseases, from 1694 as "Habitual Cough" [Habit Cough]. Note: I love how it talks about ""Wherein is shewed [shown] how much the Mind influenceth the Body in causing and curing DISEASES"
Cause of Habit Cough
(Hint: It's NOT antibiotics. There were no antibiotics in 1694. Please read.)
When Bethany's daytime, cough was still a mystery cough, we could not imagine what caused it. Of course, it would go away; right? Well, not so fast. It only got worse.
When her vicious repetitive, daytime, cough just wouldn't stop and became a "horror cough", we began to wonder again, what the cause was, so that when it ever stopped we would be able to keep it from starting again.
When I ask Dr. Weinberger what his thoughts were on what causes Habit Cough, he responded that his research was based solely on the "... diagnosis, treatment & recovery from Habit Cough." Future research will certainly discover causes.
I must say that Dr. Weinberger has done a fine job so far.
Some people have said maybe it was the stress the child was under. As for our daughter, she never seemed to be under any type of stress. Update: Numerous parents (and adults) have communicated to me (and I reported to Dr. Weinberger that their child (or they) was under stress when their daytime, horror cough first appeared. There is NO definite evidence of this; just some parental or adult stories. We will include references to stress, but I do not believe it will become any part of Dr. Weinberger's research. Remember, he only researched "diagnosis, treatment & recovery of Habit Cough".
Notable stressful events were, brush fires in Australia (15-year-old girl and 10-year-old girl), the first week of nursing school in 48-year-old female from Texas, new pre-school teachers, and school in San Francisco, first week of medical school for 25-year-old male in Nepal, as well as other children managing multiple stressful events. This is NOT to say that stress causes Habit Cough. We just note what is reported independently and without direct solicitation.
I do know that Bethany was in an age of self-awareness which seems to happens around the twelfth or thirteenth year from everything I've read. This is the time when a child "becomes an adult" in many religions, cultures and societies.
I can't imagine that Bethany was under noticeable stress, (we do not hold her to strict grades or other societal or familial requirements) but I also know that she had a cough prior. You will note that she did, though have an upper respiratory infection just prior to her daytime, cough. (If you read below in this old medical journal from 1694 it basically states that "Habitual Cough" is the, daytime] cough that remains after the cold that caused the cough has been cured.)
I did receive two independent emails from mommy's in Australia whose daughters, Abby and Lily both had a reoccurrence of their daytime Habit Cough.
I asked if they think it might have to do with the current brush fires and all of the smoke in their area. Both moms believed it was due to the stress of having to evacuate or the potential to evacuate due to the impending fires.
One child is about 11 and one child is almost 16. I would suspect at a younger age they may not be so worried because they know that Mommy and Daddy will take care of everything.
Then I wonder what about the child who begins their mystery cough at age 4 or 5. They certainly are not at a period of enlightenment and self-realization in their life.
My mind harkens back to what is noted from the medical journal in 1694. They too did not list a cause - other than - just a notation that it was the cough that stayed after the cold that caused the cough had been cured. (So the cold that was cured WAS the cause of the "Habitual Cough". Hmmm.) Sounds correct, especially since antibiotics are out of the equation.
Dr. Weinberger told me that he would have to leave research into the cause of Habit Cough to another team of doctors and researchers.
My takeaway is we are all just blessed the Dr. Weinberger, rather than searching for a cause, spent all of his energy into diagnosis and instant cure.
Note: Bethany did have one reoccurrence (new & unassociated incident) of her daytime Habit Cough about 60+ days after her instant cure. When this happened, I freaked out a little bit and email Dr. Weinberger. Keeping a steady course, he responded almost instantly via email and said, "... tell Bethany that dr. Weinberger told her she knows what to do."
I called out across the room and said very nonchalantly, "Bethany, Dr. Weinberger said you know what to do. You can make your cough stop."
Within minutes she realized again that she had the power and her cough vanished almost instantaneously.
